NTPC Limited has floated a nationwide competitive tender for the procurement of Agro Residue-Based Biomass Pellets (Non-Torrefied) for its Mouda Super Thermal Power Project located in Nagpur district, Maharashtra. The tender forms part of NTPC’s ongoing biomass co-firing program aimed at reducing coal consumption, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting sustainable utilization of agricultural residues.


Under this tender, NTPC intends to procure 183,960 Metric Tonnes of biomass pellets over a delivery period of 730 days. The procurement will be executed on a FOR Power Station basis, wherein the supplier is responsible for manufacturing or sourcing, loading, transportation, and delivery of pellets to the NTPC Mouda plant.


The tender allows part-quantity bidding, enabling suppliers to participate according to their production capacities. A minimum supply capacity of 14,600 MT has been specified for eligible bidders. The pellets must conform to NTPC’s technical specifications and should be transported in fully covered, waterproof vehicles to ensure product quality during transit.

Eligibility Criteria

The tender is reserved for Class-I Local Suppliers under the Make in India policy with a minimum local content requirement of 100%. Eligible participants include biomass pellet manufacturers, future pellet manufacturers, traders, consortiums, LLPs, partnership firms, cooperative societies, and other Indian entities meeting NTPC’s qualification requirements.


The project offers a substantial opportunity for biomass pellet suppliers to establish long-term business relations with NTPC while contributing to India’s renewable energy transition and agricultural residue management initiatives.
