NTPC Limited has invited competitive bids for the long-term supply of Agro Residue Based Biomass Pellets (Non-Torrefied) for its Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (STPP) situated in Sundargarh district of Odisha. The tender forms part of NTPC’s biomass co-firing initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable utilization of agricultural residues.

Published on 17 June 2026 under GeM Bid No. GEM/2026/B/7653896, the tender requires the supply of 155,490 Metric Tonnes of biomass pellets over a contractual delivery period of 730 days. Interested bidders must submit their offers by 09 July 2026 at 3:00 PM, while technical and commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.

A pre-bid conference has been scheduled for 26 June 2026 at 4:00 PM through Microsoft Teams, allowing prospective suppliers to seek clarifications regarding technical specifications and commercial terms.

The scope of work includes loading, transportation, and delivery of biomass pellets to NTPC Darlipali on a FOR destination basis. Suppliers must ensure that pellets are transported in covered, waterproof vehicles to protect material quality during transit. Pellets supplied under the contract must comply with NTPC’s technical specifications, including a Gross Calorific Value (GCV) ranging from 2,800 to 4,000 Kcal/kg.

The tender permits part-quantity bidding, enabling suppliers to offer quantities based on their production capacities. NTPC may allocate the total requirement among multiple successful bidders to ensure supply security and uninterrupted plant operations.

The procurement is reserved for Class-I Local Suppliers under the Make in India policy, requiring 100% local content compliance. MSE purchase preference benefits are also available as per prevailing Government of India procurement guidelines.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for biomass pellet manufacturers, aggregators, traders, and emerging pellet producers looking to establish long-term business relationships with NTPC and participate in India’s growing biomass co-firing market.
