NTPC Limited, India's largest power generation company, has invited online bids through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform for the supply of Agro Residue Based Biomass Pellets (V2) at its Gadarwara Super Thermal Power Station, Madhya Pradesh. The tender forms part of NTPC's ongoing initiative to increase biomass co-firing in thermal power plants and promote sustainable utilization of agricultural residues.

Under this tender, NTPC intends to procure 115,340 Metric Tonnes of Non-Torrefied Biomass Pellets having a Gross Calorific Value (GCV) within the prescribed range of 2800–4000 Kcal/kg. The pellets supplied must conform to the technical specifications and quality standards prescribed by NTPC and the Ministry of Power.

The scope of work includes manufacturing, loading, transportation, and delivery of biomass pellets to the NTPC Gadarwara plant on a FOR destination basis. Suppliers are responsible for ensuring safe transportation of pellets in covered and weather-protected vehicles. The material must be supplied in loose form as per NTPC requirements.

The tender allows part-quantity bidding, enabling suppliers to bid according to their available production capacity. The minimum supply capacity required from a bidder is 14,600 MT. NTPC may also split the order among multiple qualified bidders to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply and diversification of sources.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for 26 June 2026 at 4:00 PM, while the bid submission deadline is 09 July 2026 at 3:00 PM. Technical and commercial bids will be opened on the same day at 3:30 PM.

The procurement is reserved for Class-I Local Suppliers under the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) policy. Eligible biomass pellet manufacturers, future manufacturers, traders, LLPs, cooperative societies, consortiums, and Indian companies meeting the tender requirements can participate. This tender presents an excellent long-term opportunity for biomass pellet producers looking to establish supply partnerships with NTPC and contribute to India's renewable energy and biomass co-firing objectives.
